 asana

The poses help us to understand our body; muscles, tendons, skeleton. Realising our individual strength, blockages and ability, which is different in every student. In each movement every student has the chance to find ease and a place for development. Tree pose for example teaches us how to root and be

grounded, to find our balance, while remaining fluid enough to stay up right when we sway. All movements are guided to the inhale and exhale to bring the outside and inside into unison. The sequences and poses bring strength, balance and flexibility to the mind and body.

 pranayama

Learn how to manage your breath to bring calmness and balance. Ancient breathing techniques are often used in modern day medicine, Kumbaka for example

where the breath is inhaled, retained and exhaled to a silent count is now used within western medicine to address insomnia.

There is nothing more pure in this world than knowledge of the true self. In due time this will come to the devoted practitioner of yoga.   Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 4, verse 38
